Traumatic Brain Injuries

Traumatic Brain Injuries

Our TBI rehabilitation process begins with a thorough assessment by our team of experienced neurodevelopmental and rehabilitation physiotherapists. We evaluate the severity of the brain injury, the patient’s physical and cognitive abilities, and any psychological or emotional challenges they may face. Based on this assessment, we create a personalized care plan that addresses the unique needs of each patient.

Cognitive Rehabilitation

Cognitive impairments are common after a traumatic brain injury, affecting memory, attention, problem-solving, and other critical thinking skills. At MINISTONES TO MILESTONES, we offer cognitive rehabilitation therapy to help patients recover these functions. Our therapists use a variety of techniques, including cognitive exercises, memory aids, and compensatory strategies, to improve cognitive function and enhance daily living skills.

Physical Rehabilitation

Physical rehabilitation is a key component of recovery for TBI patients. We focus on improving mobility, strength, balance, and coordination through targeted physical therapy sessions. Our therapists work closely with patients to help them regain independence in their movements, reduce the risk of falls, and enhance overall physical health.

Speech and Language Therapy

Traumatic brain injuries often result in difficulties with speech, language, and swallowing. Our speech-language pathologists provide specialized therapy to help patients regain their communication skills and improve their ability to speak, understand language, and swallow safely. We also offer alternative communication strategies for patients who may have more severe impairments.

Psychological and Emotional Support

The emotional and psychological impact of a traumatic brain injury can be profound. At MINISTONES TO MILESTONES, we provide counseling and psychological support to help patients and their families cope with the emotional challenges of recovery. Our team of psychologists and counselors offers therapy for anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other emotional issues related to TBI.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapy services are designed to help TBI patients regain the skills needed for daily living and independence. This includes training in activities such as dressing, bathing, cooking, and using assistive devices. Our occupational therapists also work with patients on fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and cognitive functioning to support their return to daily activities and, if possible, to work.
